Food in the can
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be aware that food that is packed in the can is not the optimal food for humans or even other species. Part of the food that I consumed used to come in the cans. Typically I enjoyed canned tomato, canned coconut milk and canned olives.
My mind and habits has change. Besides that canned food typically is highly processed and high in sodium, this food have one more dark side.
It appears that most canned food is exposed to chemical called Bisphenol A or more widely known as BPA. I don’t want to get into deep discussion on what does BPA do to our bodies. That I will leave to another post, but in short, besides that nowadays it is found in most people urine, it’s highly controversial chemical.
Even FDA had to take into consideration recent studies that show negative impact of BPA on human brain, behavior, and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children.
Although some producers started to design cans that are BPA free and usually are marked such way, most cans still have the inline coating of the can that has this harmful substance.
So at the end, besides the food in the can is basically… crappy, now we know that even the packaging of this food seems to be… crappy.
Cans should go, reach for whole unprocessed foods.
